Illinois lawmakers propose new animal welfare legislation
Illinois lawmakers are considering several new animal welfare bills. State Rep. Barbara Hernandez has introduced House Bill 2410, which would limit pet euthanasia in shelters to health-related reasons only. Other proposals include House Bill 1902, requiring genetic testing for dog breeders, and House Bill 3056, which bans importing dogs under eight weeks old into Illinois. Senate Bill 45 aims to prohibit tail pulling in cows during rodeos, addressing concerns about animal welfare in entertainment.
