Illinois Rep calls locker room allegations 'a lie.'

An Illinois state representative has responded strongly to accusations made by a local mother regarding middle school girls being forced to change clothes in front of a transgender student. Representative Bob Morgan labeled the claims as "a lie" during a recent assembly session. The controversy began when Nicole Georgas, a Deerfield resident, claimed that her 13-year-old daughter was pressured by school officials to change in front of a transgender student in a girls' locker room. This allegation was raised at a school board meeting and has led Georgas to file a federal civil rights complaint. Morgan criticized Republican representative Adam Neimerg for bringing up Georgas' claims, expressing pride in his community's schools and their handling of the situation. He emphasized that Deerfield has "incredible families" and schools and contested the veracity of Georgas' account. In her response, Georgas challenged Morgan's comments by asking if he had personal knowledge of the situation since her daughter witnessed the events. She expressed her frustration and labeled Morgan's assertions as disrespectful. According to Georgas, her daughter felt "frightened" when she encountered the transgender student in the girls' bathroom and later faced pressure from school staff to change into her gym uniform in the presence of this student. Deerfield Public Schools District 109 clarified that no student is required to change in front of others in the locker room. The district stated that its policies are in line with state law and stressed a commitment to respect and support for all students.
