Impeachment complaint filed against Vice President Sara Duterte in Philippines
Sixteen individuals from civil society and advocacy groups filed an impeachment complaint against Vice President Sara Duterte in the Philippine House of Representatives. The complaint cites five grounds for impeachment, excluding treason, based on the 1987 Constitution. The complaint includes allegations of constitutional violations, graft, bribery, and involvement in extrajudicial killings. It also mentions unaccounted confidential funds and Duterte's actions during crises, such as Super Typhoon Carina. House Secretary General Reginald Velasco received the complaint but noted that Congress may not have enough time to process it before the upcoming break. The impeachment process could take up to 130 days, with only nine session days remaining.
