Imran Khan supporters clash with police in Islamabad protests
Supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan clashed with police in Islamabad, demanding his release. Police used tear gas and rubber bullets as protesters broke through barricades. The Interior Ministry reported four security personnel were killed during the unrest. Islamabad has been under lockdown since Saturday, with over 20,000 police deployed. Despite this, Khan's supporters traveled to the capital from other provinces, pushing aside roadblocks. Khan has been imprisoned for over a year and faces numerous criminal charges. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned the protests, labeling them as extremism. He stated that the clashes were not peaceful and aimed at political disruption. The situation has resulted in numerous injuries, including among journalists.
