Imran Khan supporters clash with police in Islamabad, six dead in violence
Supporters of imprisoned former Prime Minister Imran Khan broke through a lockdown in Islamabad on Tuesday, demanding his release. At least six people have died in related violence, including four security personnel and one civilian. Protesters clashed with security forces, ignoring threats of live fire. Police used tear gas to disperse crowds, and many were injured, including journalists. Authorities have arrested over 4,000 Khan supporters since Friday and restricted mobile services. Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, claims the numerous criminal cases against him are politically motivated. The government maintains that only courts can order his release. Educational institutions in the capital are closed, and travel is severely restricted due to roadblocks.
