Imran Khan supporters march on Islamabad despite police crackdown in Pakistan
Supporters of jailed former Prime Minister Imran Khan resumed their march towards Islamabad on November 25, facing heavy police resistance. Authorities have blocked roads with shipping containers and imposed a ban on rallies, citing security concerns during a visit from a Belarusian delegation. Khan's party, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf, aims to protest against what they call a "stolen mandate" and unjust arrests. Despite police efforts, including detaining around 60 protesters in Rawalpindi, the marchers continue their journey, determined to reach the capital. Khan has been in jail since last year, facing numerous legal challenges after his government was dismissed in 2022. His party claims that the ruling coalition has undermined their electoral success, alleging manipulation of the political process.
