Imran Khan's supporters suspend protests in Islamabad after security crackdown
Supporters of former Prime Minister Imran Khan have called off their protests in Islamabad after a major raid by security forces led to hundreds of arrests. The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party announced a "temporary suspension" of the protests, which had resulted in at least six deaths. The protests escalated when Khan's wife, Bushra Bibi, led a convoy that breached security lines. Following the raid, city workers began clearing debris and shipping containers that had blocked roads. The heavily fortified red zone is now empty of protesters. PTI had planned a sit-in until Khan's release, but the party's local president stated they would develop a new strategy after consultation. The stock market reacted positively, rising over 3% after the protests were suspended.
