Imtiaz Ali emphasizes music over crime in Chamkila film

The Netflix film "Amar Singh Chamkila," released in April 2024, begins with the murder of the Punjabi singer and his wife. Director Imtiaz Ali aimed to shift focus from crime to music and love in the story. Imtiaz Ali explained that revealing the murders early allows the film to concentrate on Chamkila's life and music rather than turning it into a crime investigation. He wanted the audience to engage with the singer's love story. The film features music by AR Rahman and includes 14 tracks. Actors Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra performed the original songs live on set, enhancing the film's musical aspect.
