Increased police security for schools in Kozhikode exams
Police in Kozhikode are increasing security around schools ahead of the annual exams. This decision comes after recent student clashes, including the death of a Class 10 student at Thamarassery. With exams starting soon, police will provide extra support requested by some school officials concerned about safety. More officers will be on duty near schools starting March 26. Increased patrols will cover both urban and rural areas, according to police sources. Officials are urging schools to remain vigilant and report any unusual activities. Special patrols are planned for schools where past incidents raised safety concerns. The police aim to prevent risky celebrations that often follow exams, such as motorcycle races and fireworks. Parent-teacher associations are also asked to monitor activities. Anti-narcotics teams will be present around school areas, and they will collaborate with student groups on safety measures. In addition, police are investigating incidents involving senior students attacking juniors. They plan to question more students suspected of being involved in the death of Mohammad Shabaz, the student killed in the recent clashes, after the exams conclude.
