India adds six sites to UNESCO's tentative list

India has added six new sites to its UNESCO tentative list, bringing the total to 62. The new sites include the Mudumal Megalithic Menhirs in Telangana and palace-fortresses of the Bundelas in Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. Other additions are Kanger Valley National Park in Chhattisgarh, Ashokan Edict Sites, Chausath Yogini temples, and Gupta temples across multiple states. These additions were announced by Union Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat in Lok Sabha. The new sites were added on March 7, 2025. Currently, India has 43 properties inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List, including 35 cultural sites.
