India and Malaysia expedite Asean Goods Agreement review

India and Malaysia are working to speed up the review of the Asean India Trade in Goods Agreement (AITIGA). They hope to finish this review by 2025. This agreement focuses on improving trade, market access, and cooperation in key areas like semiconductors and services. The agreement was discussed during a recent meeting between Indian Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasada and Malaysian Deputy Minister for Investment, Trade and Industry Liew Chin Tong. They talked about various issues related to trade and access to markets. The next meeting for the review is planned for April 9-11. During this meeting, both countries aim to finalize the review process within this year. Malaysia currently holds the chair of the Asean group for 2025 and is one of its ten member countries.
