India becomes vital hub for international arbitration
The 2nd Justice Hidayatullah International Moot Court Competition began on March 21, 2025, at Hidayatullah National Law University (HNLU) in Raipur. The event will continue until March 23 and features teams from top law schools around the world. Its goal is to improve advocacy skills and legal discussions. Justice R.C.S. Samant, the Chairperson of the Chhattisgarh Arbitration Tribunal, spoke at the opening ceremony. He emphasized the increasing importance of Alternative Dispute Resolution in business and mentioned India's growing position as an arbitration hub. He stated that moot courts help future lawyers prepare for real-life challenges. Other notable attendees included Justice Mayank K. Jain and Prof. V.C. Vivekanandan, the Vice-Chancellor of HNLU. Prof. Vivekanandan remarked that international arbitration is a collaborative field. He stressed that events like this help shape arbitration through diverse legal traditions and perspectives. Justice Jain also highlighted the educational benefits of moot court competitions. He noted that these contests help students develop research, advocacy, and teamwork skills. No matter the outcome, he said, each experience provides valuable lessons for aspiring legal professionals.
