India blames Pakistan for cross-border terrorism hindering peace
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) of India has strongly criticized Pakistan for its role in cross-border terrorism. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated that this issue is the "biggest roadblock" to peace and security in the region. During a weekly briefing, Jaiswal emphasized that the world understands Pakistan's active promotion and sponsorship of terrorism. He reiterated India's calls for Pakistan to take action against terrorist groups operating within its borders. The long-standing tensions between India and Pakistan have been fueled by these actions. Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently spoke about his attempts to improve relations with Pakistan. In an interview, he mentioned inviting former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to his inauguration and traveling to Lahore to foster peace, but he noted his efforts were met with hostility. When asked about the recent Iftar invitation from the Pakistan High Commission for Pakistan's National Day, Jaiswal said that such invitations depend on the state of relations between the two countries. He indicated that accepting invitations hinges on the current relationship between India and Pakistan.
