India developing indigenous anti-drone technology, says Shah
Union Home Minister Amit Shah announced that India is close to developing its own anti-drone solution, expected to be ready within the next six months. Speaking in the Rajya Sabha, he expressed confidence after six successful trials. He emphasized that this project is part of the "Make in India" initiative. Shah highlighted the dual use of drones in the country. They are not only being tested for security but are also being employed to monitor poppy cultivation. He informed that drones, satellites, and advanced technology have been effectively used to eliminate opium crops. In the past five years, authorities have destroyed 23,000 kilograms of synthetic drugs, valued at over ₹14,000 crore. Shah noted that drugs often come from Afghanistan and transit through various countries. He stressed that India is committed to preventing drug trafficking. Additionally, Shah pointed out that profits from drug dealing contribute to terrorism. He vowed that those involved in the drug trade would face consequences, reaffirming the government's strong stance against illegal activities.
