India develops digital solutions for global health challenges
At a recent forum in New Delhi, Bill Gates praised India for its role in developing digital solutions that could benefit global health and development. The event, organized by the CII in partnership with the Gates Foundation and the Women’s Collective Forum, gathered leaders from various industries, government, and investors. Gates highlighted India's contributions to affordable healthcare, AI diagnostics, and digital public services. He believes that India's innovations can help address significant challenges in emerging economies. Gates noted that India's achievements in health and development through cost-effective innovations are commendable. He expressed the Gates Foundation's commitment to collaborating with Indian innovators, policy makers, and entrepreneurs to expand advancements in AI and sustainable development worldwide. Smriti Irani, a prominent figure in promoting gender equity, recognized the importance of funding in driving social innovation. She discussed how India is delivering low-cost, technology-enabled solutions to tackle crucial global issues like health and food security. Chandrajit Banerjee, Director General of the CII, praised India's leadership in digital infrastructure, calling it a model for other developing countries. Sanjiv Puri, CII President, pointed out that successful initiatives, such as the Ayushman Bharat health program, demonstrate the effectiveness of aligning policy with technology to create sustainable solutions.
