India has developed a new antibiotic called nafithromycin (Miqnaf) to treat drug-resistant pneumonia. This antibiotic is eight times more effective than azithromycin and requires only a three-day treatment course. Nafithromycin was created by Wockhardt with support from BIRAC. It is awaiting final approval and is expected to have higher effectiveness and fewer side effects compared to existing antibiotics.
