They secured silver medals in both the men’s doubles and the over-30 team categories. In the doubles final, they lost to Spain’s Manuel Martinez and Roger Ordeig with a score of 3-6, 1-6. Previously, they had impressive victories over teams from Russia, Germany, and Austria. The Indian over-30 team, which included the Sood twins along with Shikhar Gaddh and Govind Maurya, lost the final match to Britain, 0-3. Earlier in the tournament, they had defeated teams from Argentina and Turkmenistan during the knockout rounds. In other matches, Akshitha Basavaraju and Jitin Bishnoi reached the mixed doubles semifinals but were defeated by Portugal’s Rita Freitas and Jose-Ricardo Nunes. Similarly, Mishal Javia and Kartikeya Verma lost in the over-35 doubles semifinals to top seeds from Japan and Australia. Anil Dhupar, the secretary-general of AITA, praised the players for their skill and determination against tough international opponents.
