India exports 30 tons of jaggery to Bangladesh
The Indian government has exported 30 tons of jaggery to Bangladesh as part of a new agricultural initiative. This is a significant move aimed at boosting agricultural exports from India. The government announced the shipment on Saturday. The export is managed by the Brijnandan Agro Farmer Producer Company (FPC), which was established in 2023. The company has 545 members, including two women in leadership roles. It exports various agricultural products, including jaggery, sugar, Basmati rice, and pulses. Shamli MLA Prasanna Chaudhary praised the quality of the jaggery produced in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli regions. He noted that there is strong demand for this product in international markets. This effort is supported by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA). This export marks the third success story of FPOs from western Uttar Pradesh in recent years. Previous shipments included basmati rice sent to Lebanon and Oman. The Brijnandan Agro FPC is the only one in Uttar Pradesh to receive financial aid under the state’s agricultural export policy. The export initiative is seen as a way to empower farmers in Uttar Pradesh and enhance the agricultural sector in India.
