India faces reduced medal chances as key sports drop from 2026 Commonwealth Games

The 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow will not include key sports like hockey, cricket, wrestling, and badminton. This change significantly reduces India's chances of winning medals compared to the 2022 Games in Birmingham. The Commonwealth Games Federation announced that the event will take place from July 23 to August 2, 2026. The revised program will feature only 10 sports, including athletics, swimming, and boxing, across four venues. In the 2022 Games, India won 61 medals, with 30 coming from the now-excluded sports. The absence of these events is expected to impact India's overall medal count in 2026.
