India imposes anti-dumping duty on Acetonitrile imports
The Directorate General of Trade Remedies (DGTR) has announced new anti-dumping duties on imports of Acetonitrile from China, Russia, and Taiwan. This decision was made to protect the domestic industry from harm caused by these imports. The duties will last for five years. The DGTR's notice, published on March 21, states that the duty will match either the smaller amount of dumping or the damage caused to local producers. This action comes after reports showed that imports from these countries have significantly increased compared to the previous year. Acetonitrile, also known by other names like MeCN, is a chemical used in various industries. The authority noted that Acetonitrile imported into India often has a lower purity than what is produced domestically. This puts local suppliers at a disadvantage. Additionally, DGTR is also recommending anti-dumping duties on imports of Pretilachlor, a type of herbicide, and roller chains from China. The aim is to ensure fair competition in the market. The situation is still developing.
