India launches new submarine and warships to boost Indian Ocean security
India's navy launched a new submarine, destroyer, and frigate on Wednesday to enhance security in the Indian Ocean, where 95% of its trade passes. This move responds to the growing presence of the Chinese navy in the region. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh emphasized the shift in focus from the Atlantic to the Indian Ocean, highlighting its rising importance in global power dynamics. Prime Minister Narendra Modi noted that these new vessels mark progress in India's defense manufacturing and maritime security goals. India's fleet now includes 16 submarines, with plans for three more Scorpene submarines expected to be finalized during Modi's upcoming visit to France. The navy aims to strengthen its capabilities amid regional challenges.
