India monitors Syria situation and urges unity for peaceful resolution
India's Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) is closely monitoring the situation in Syria, emphasizing the need for unity and a peaceful political process. The MEA is in contact with the Indian community in Syria to ensure their safety. Recent developments include Syrian rebels entering Damascus, leading to President Bashar al-Assad's departure and asylum in Russia. The rebels have also claimed control of Homs and Saydnaya Military Prison. On December 6, India issued a travel advisory urging citizens to avoid travel to Syria. Indians in the country are advised to stay in touch with the embassy and consider leaving as soon as possible.
