India plans to host 2036 Olympics with infrastructure improvements

Union Minister Mansukh Mandaviya announced plans for India to host the 2036 Olympic Games. He outlined a roadmap focused on developing sports infrastructure, especially in Uttar Pradesh. The Indian Olympic Association has also officially expressed interest in hosting the Games. Mandaviya highlighted the Sports Ministry's efforts to upgrade existing sports facilities to meet international standards. This is part of a broader plan to enhance sports excellence in India, both in terms of medal achievements and infrastructure quality. On the same day, Mandaviya launched a campaign called ‘Fit India Sunday on Cycle’ in Lucknow. This initiative encourages people to cycle as a way to stay healthy and show commitment to the nation. He noted the environmental benefits of cycling and its potential to combat obesity, a concern raised by Prime Minister Modi. The cycling event, which was three kilometers long, attracted over 500 participants from different age groups. The rally started at Marine Drive and included key areas of the city, with support from local officials.
