India shares federalism strategies with Myanmar
India has hosted workshops in Myanmar to share its knowledge about federalism and governance. The goal is to help Myanmar improve its governance and manage relationships between its central government and different states. The workshops took place in Naypyidaw, Myanmar’s capital, and involved political parties, armed groups, and Indian experts. They focused on India's experiences in dealing with ethnic diversity and promoting peaceful negotiations. Participants included representatives from Myanmar's National Solidarity and Peacemaking Negotiation Committee and various armed groups that have signed a nationwide ceasefire agreement. Political leaders from multiple parties also attended, showcasing a wide range of perspectives. One key participant, U Htet Aung Kyaw, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Force Party, praised India's negotiation skills. He highlighted that India has successfully managed its own conflicts over many decades through patience and compromise. Discussions covered how to resolve political issues related to constitutional and ethnic matters in areas affected by conflict. Experts from Indian think tanks contributed by sharing insights on India's approach to governance, federalism, and managing a diverse population.
