Indian Bank raises ₹5,000 crore for infrastructure projects
Indian Bank shares experienced a rise of 1.62%, closing at Rs 533.70 in the latest trading session on BSE. The bank's market capitalization reached Rs 71,887 crore. The focus on Indian Bank stems from its board's recent decision to raise Rs 5,000 crore. This will be achieved through long-term infrastructure bonds aimed at funding projects in the infrastructure sector. The bank plans to time the fundraising carefully, meeting the needs for financing and refinancing infrastructure and affordable housing. This will comply with guidelines from the Reserve Bank of India and other relevant regulations. In a meeting held on March 20, 2025, the bank's Board of Directors approved this move. They noted that this amount is in addition to the Rs 10,000 crore already raised in the current financial year 2024-25.
