Indian companies boost hiring of persons with disabilities
Indian companies are increasingly hiring persons with disabilities (PwDs), with job postings for inclusive roles rising by 30-40% over the past three years. This shift reflects a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace. Companies like Future Generali and Vedanta are enhancing accessibility and expanding their PwD workforce. Future Generali has increased its PwD employees from 16 to 41 in one year, while Vedanta employs over 50 PwDs and is onboarding interns. Despite the positive trend, PwDs still face challenges in securing senior roles. A recent study shows most PwD employees are in junior or middle positions. However, the overall increase in diversity hiring indicates a growing recognition of the value of inclusion in the workforce.
