Indian developers acquired 6,000 acres for projects
Real estate developers in India acquired nearly 6,000 acres of land from 2022 to 2024 for ₹90,000 crore, driven by strong demand for housing and commercial projects. In 2024 alone, they purchased 2,335 acres for ₹39,742 crore. The 2024 acquisitions included 134 transactions across 23 cities, with 81% of the land designated for residential development. Major cities like Bengaluru, Chennai, and Delhi-NCR accounted for 72% of the purchases, while Tier II and III cities made up 28%. Emerging cities such as Nagpur and Varanasi also saw significant land acquisitions, indicating a growing interest in these markets. The total development potential from the 2024 acquisitions is estimated at 194 million square feet.
