Indian hockey players enjoy nature at Delhi's Lodhi Gardens

On March 20, in celebration of International Day of Happiness, members of India's national hockey teams visited Lodhi Gardens in Delhi. It was their first time at this historic site, and they shared their joyful experiences surrounded by nature. The players enjoyed the beauty of vibrant Bougainvillea flowers and lush greenery. Harmanpreet Singh, the men’s team captain, expressed how the outing provided him with much-needed joy. He mentioned that being in nature reminded him of the peace he found in his village, contrasting the busy life of training and competitions. Salima Tete, the captain of the women's team, emphasized the importance of nature in reducing stress. She said that being in natural surroundings helps her think clearly and find calmness, which is crucial during high-pressure games. Deepika Kumari, a star drag-flick specialist, shared her happiness in enjoying the day with her teammates. She noted that they have worked hard for women’s hockey and appreciated the recognition they are receiving as a team. Jyoti Rumawat, a defender, cherished the beauty of the Bougainvillea flowers. The colors brightened her day and created a joyful feeling similar to winning a match. She plans to remember this moment whenever she feels stressed about games. Jarmanpreet Singh, another defender, talked about finding happiness in small things. He encouraged everyone to focus on their mental health and to seek joy in simple experiences like playing with animals or enjoying the outdoors. Midfielder Hardik Singh shared insights about learning from nature's changes. He believes that adapting and improving oneself, like nature does, can lead to happiness. Manpreet Singh, also a midfielder, expressed excitement about experiencing a different side of Delhi. Though they had visited the city many times for games, this trip to Lodhi Gardens was a new and delightful experience for him and his teammates.
