Indian student self-deports after visa revocation
An Indian student at Columbia University, Ranjani Srinivasan, has self-deported after her student visa was revoked for participating in pro-Palestine protests. The U.S. Department of Homeland Security stated her visa was revoked on March 5 for "advocating violence and terrorism." Srinivasan used a Customs and Border Protection app to leave the U.S. on March 11. Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem shared a video of her departure, emphasizing that those advocating for violence should not remain in the country. Columbia University has seen increased protests supporting Palestine amid the Israel-Hamas conflict. Other students have faced legal issues related to their involvement in similar protests, with investigations ongoing into the university's actions.
