Indian student self-deports after visa revoked for Hamas

Ranjani Srinivasan, a doctoral student from India at Columbia University, self-deported after her visa was revoked for supporting Hamas. The U.S. Department of State revoked her visa on March 5, 2025, and she left the country on March 11 using the CBP Home App. In a separate case, Leqaa Kordia, a Palestinian student, was arrested for overstaying her expired visa. Her visa had been terminated in January 2022 due to lack of attendance. The DHS has introduced the CBP Home App, which allows undocumented individuals to report self-deportation. This app aims to provide a safer and more cost-effective option for voluntary departure.
