India's I&B sector attracts ₹4,786 crore FDI
India's information and broadcasting sector attracted ₹4,786 crore in foreign direct investment (FDI) during the first nine months of the 2024-25 fiscal year. This marks a significant increase, driven by major investments, including ₹1,008 crore from Walt Disney into Star India. In the third quarter alone, the sector received ₹1,264 crore. Disney's total investment in Star India reached ₹3,847 crore, following its merger with Viacom18 to form JioStar. Other notable investments included ₹177 crore from IVY Entertainment and ₹1,100 crore from Prime Focus Technologies and Pocket FM. Overall, the sector received ₹6,390 crore in FDI, with the largest single investment of ₹4,306 crore coming from BTS Investment 1 Pte Ltd into Viacom18.
