Inmate dies unexpectedly at HMP Parc prison

A 49-year-old inmate died suddenly at HMP Parc in Bridgend on March 1, 2025. South Wales Police reported no suspicious circumstances and informed the coroner. HMP Parc had the highest number of inmate deaths in Wales and England last year, with 17 reported in 2024. Eight of these deaths were due to natural causes, while at least four were drug-related. G4S, which operates the prison, confirmed the death toll and maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards drugs. Families of deceased inmates have previously protested for answers regarding drug misuse in the facility.
