Inothewayurthinkin out of Grand National for health reasons
Inothewayurthinkin, the winner of the Cheltenham Gold Cup, will not compete in the Grand National at Aintree next month. Trainer Gavin Cromwell and owner JP McManus have decided to scratch the seven-year-old horse from the race. Cromwell emphasized that the decision is about prioritizing the horse’s well-being. Inothewayurthinkin recently claimed victory at Cheltenham, solidifying his status as a top horse. His win came with a strong performance, distancing himself from past champion Galopin Des Champs. Following this, he became the favorite for the Grand National, with odds as low as 3/1, aiming for a historic double. However, Cromwell confirmed the withdrawal on Tuesday, stating that they believe it is the right choice for the horse. He mentioned that Inothewayurthinkin has shown great improvement in his jumping this season. While Aintree is off the table, there is a possibility that Inothewayurthinkin could compete in the Punchestown Gold Cup later in the season, though that decision is not yet confirmed. Cromwell noted that the horse has recovered well since his last race. Additionally, ten other horses, including some of Inothewayurthinkin's rivals from the Gold Cup, will also miss the Grand National. This includes Monty's Star, The Real Whacker, and Gentlemansgame. JP McManus’s horse Limerick Lace, along with Envoi Allen, will not participate in this year's event either. Other non-runners include Galvin, Trelawne, Pinkerton, Git Maker, and Gericault Roque.
