International burglars convicted for robbing Newcastle's Isak
A family of international burglars is facing prison after breaking into the home of Newcastle United footballer Alexander Isak. Three members of the family had already admitted to conspiracy charges, while Valentino Nikolov, 32, was found guilty in court just yesterday. The gang targeted homes in North East England, making off with over £1 million in stolen goods. From Isak's house in Northumberland last April, they stole £68,000 worth of jewelry and up to £10,000 in cash. The group, including Valentino and his brother Giacomo, 28, their sister Jela Jovanovic, 43, and her son Charlie, 23, were arrested after investigators traced them. Judge Robert Spragg stated that prison time is “inevitable” for the burglars when they are sentenced at Newcastle crown court. Detective Constable Mark Armstrong from the North East Regional Organised Crime Unit called the outcome a “fantastic result.” He emphasized the emotional and financial trauma that burglaries cause to victims. The burglary at Isak's home was discovered when he returned late at night and found evidence of forced entry and a mess inside. The gang had broken a glass door to gain access.
