Interstate 70 closed in Colorado due to high winds

As of 8 a.m. on Wednesday, strong winds have led to several road closures in Colorado. Eastbound Interstate 70 is closed east of Denver, specifically between E-470 and Burlington. Westbound I-70 is also closed from Deer Trail to Burlington. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) announced these closures due to safety concerns. Burlington is located about 13 miles west of the Colorado-Kansas state line. Other affected roads include U.S. 40, U.S. 24, U.S. 385, Colorado 59, Colorado 94, and Colorado 71, all closed in both directions between various points. Additionally, eastbound I-70 is closed between West Vail and Vail because of a crash. The situation is ongoing, and updates will be provided as they become available.
