Investigation launched into Aundh District Hospital death
The health department has set up a committee to investigate the death of Girish More, a 44-year-old patient. He died three days after being discharged from Aundh District Hospital (ADH) in Pune. More was admitted on January 3, 2025, for various health issues, including alcoholism and diabetes. Family members had requested that More not be discharged, but Dr Amol Bodre, the treating doctor, decided he was fit to leave. After the discharge on January 10, More died, raising concerns about the decision. A video has surfaced showing Dr Bodre dismissing the family's concerns, responding, “Is this an ashram?” In response to the incident, Deputy Director of Health Services Dr Radhakishan Pawar has ordered an inquiry. Dr Nagnath Yempalay will lead the investigation. Yempalay stated that the video was recorded without permission by a hospital employee. He also noted that the hospital had no further updates on More's health after discharge. The inquiry committee is expected to look into the matter thoroughly. Clarifications will be sought from Dr Bodre regarding his comments as part of the investigation. Further actions will depend on the findings of the committee.
