Investigation of police officers' alleged brothel visit in Sydney
A secret investigation is looking into allegations that two senior police officers visited a Sydney brothel a decade ago. The officers are accused of receiving free services at Stiletto, a brothel then owned by Eddie Hayson, a known figure in the racing world who is currently in prison awaiting trial for drug charges. CCTV footage has surfaced showing the officers entering the brothel in Camperdown. The case has been referred to the Law Enforcement Conduct Commission (LECC), which investigates police misconduct. The LECC has not commented on the situation. NSW Police Commissioner Karen Webb has requested a private briefing from the LECC due to media inquiries. Eddie Hayson, previously the owner of Stiletto, declared himself bankrupt in 2014 with debts over $52 million. He had claimed in a 2016 press conference that judges and police officers visited his establishment, but denied using their presence for leverage. He acknowledged offering free services to promote his business, which he described as a common practice. Hayson has faced various legal issues over the years but has not been charged in connection with accusations of match-fixing in rugby league. Recently, in February 2024, he was arrested in Queensland for allegedly planning to transport large amounts of illegal drugs. His court case will continue on April 3.
