Investigators examine suspicious bushfire in Perth's north

Detectives from the arson squad are investigating a suspicious bushfire that threatened homes in Perth's northern suburbs. The fire occurred in Yellagonga Regional Park, near Woodvale, early on Sunday morning. Firefighters were called to control the blaze, which started around 1 a.m. The Department of Fire and Emergency Services (DFES) issued an emergency warning. They advised residents in parts of the Cities of Wanneroo and Joondalup to evacuate for safety. The fire spread across about 25 hectares before it was contained by 3 p.m. The DFES downgraded the emergency warning to an advice level afterward. On Monday, Yellagonga Regional Park remains closed to the public. Police are treating the fire as suspicious. They have encouraged anyone with information to come forward. There is a reward of up to $25,000 for tips that lead to the identification and arrest of an arsonist. Authorities are also asking the public to share any CCTV or video footage showing suspicious activity in the area of the fire.
