Investigators link Renkoski and Wivell cold cases in Michigan
Investigators in Livingston County are looking into a possible link between two cold cases involving missing woman Paige Renkoski and murdered woman Beverly Wivell. Renkoski has been missing since May 24, 1990. She was last seen on the side of I-96 after visiting a friend in Canton Township. Her abandoned vehicle was found running, with personal items still inside. Wivell was abducted, raped, and murdered in 1989. Her body was found on the side of a road in Superior Township. Prosecutors have named 69-year-old Buster Robbins as a person of interest in Renkoski's case. DNA evidence linked Robbins to Wivell's murder, but a judge ruled it was not enough to proceed with a trial against him. Renkoski's family is hopeful but also anxious about this new development. Nikki Hollis, Renkoski's niece, described their emotional journey as a “roller coaster.” She believes keeping Renkoski’s story alive is essential to finding answers. “Someone out there knows something,” she said, urging anyone with information to come forward. Renkoski was last seen speaking with men on the freeway after stopping her car, which still had the engine running. Despite extensive searches and tips, she has never been found. Her family feels a profound sense of loss. They have vowed to continue searching for answers, despite the heartache. Robbins, who faces other allegations related to his wife, will return to court for a status conference on April 8. The investigation into Renkoski’s disappearance remains open as detectives explore any potential connections between both cases. The hope for closure continues for both families involved.
