IOC approves qualification and participation principles for LA28, Dakar 2026
The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Executive Board has approved the Qualification System Principles for the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games and the Participation Principles for the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games. The LA28 principles aim to ensure fair access for athletes and National Olympic Committees, reflecting successful systems from Paris 2024. Qualification events will occur over a maximum of two years, with a focus on inclusivity and equal opportunities. The Dakar 2026 principles emphasize universality and gender equality, prioritizing participation from all 206 NOCs and all 54 African NOCs. The new framework simplifies the qualification process, reducing costs and logistical challenges for athletes and organizations.
