Ione mayor arrested for DUI following a crash
The mayor of Ione, Stacy Rhoades, was arrested for driving under the influence after a car crash on Monday evening. The incident occurred around 7:44 p.m. behind the city’s post office. Ione police arrived at the scene and learned from the other driver that Rhoades was involved. They suspected Rhoades was intoxicated due to his behavior. Because of his role as mayor, police called in the California Highway Patrol to assist with the investigation. The CHP said Rhoades was arrested for DUI, as his blood alcohol concentration was 0.08% or higher. After the accident, Rhoades took a chemical test and was later booked into the Amador County Jail. Police reported that Rhoades cooperated fully during the investigation. He also exchanged contact and insurance information with the other driver involved in the crash.
