iPhone 18 Pro series to feature new Apple modem
The iPhone 18 Pro series is expected to feature a new second-generation Apple modem, called the C2. This update is not likely to appear in the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro, which will continue using Qualcomm modems. Apple's first in-house modem debuted with the iPhone 16e. This modem, known as the C1, was designed for testing and uses a mix of advanced components. However, it does not support a technology called mmWave, which enhances speed and connectivity. The iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max will likely come with the new C2 modem. Meanwhile, the standard iPhone 18 might either use the existing C1 modem or stick with a Qualcomm modem. There are also rumors that future versions of Apple's modems could be built directly into its A-series chipsets, but this is not expected anytime soon. Additionally, Apple is reportedly exploring the development of its first foldable device. Although not officially confirmed, reports indicate it could be priced higher than competing models like the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Pixel 9 Pro Fold.
