IPL 2025 auction kicks off with record sales for marquee players
The IPL 2025 mega auction began with intense bidding, resulting in record prices for marquee players. Rishabh Pant was sold for Rs 27 crore to Lucknow Super Giants, while Shreyas Iyer went to Punjab Kings for Rs 26.75 crore. A total of 84 players were auctioned on the first day, with 72 sold and 12 unsold. This auction marked the second time it was held outside India, following last year's event in Dubai. Day 2 of the auction will continue in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, with teams like Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru holding significant budgets for further acquisitions.
