IPL 2025 introduces modified right-to-match card rules for mega auction in Jeddah
The right-to-match (RTM) card returns to the IPL mega auction after being absent since 2022. The auction will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25. In IPL 2025, the RTM process has changed. Previously, a franchise could buy back a player at the final bid amount. Now, if a previous franchise uses RTM, the current highest bidder can increase the price, which the former franchise must then match. Franchises can use up to six RTMs based on retained players. For example, Punjab Kings can use four RTMs after retaining two players, while Kolkata Knight Riders have no RTMs available after retaining six players.
