Iran arrests singer Parastoo Ahmadi for streaming concert without hijab
Iranian singer Parastoo Ahmadi and two band members were arrested for streaming a concert on YouTube without hijabs. The performance, which drew nearly 2 million views, took place in a caravanserai and was labeled an "imaginary concert." Ahmadi was released the following day after questioning. The judiciary stated that appropriate actions would be taken against her and her team. Reports indicate that two other performers were also arrested. Iran has strict laws against women singing solo and not wearing veils in public. Recent protests against these laws gained momentum after the death of Mahsa Amini in 2022, highlighting ongoing tensions over women's rights in the country.
