Iran plans terror attacks against Jews in Europe

The U.S. government has issued a warning that Iran is planning terror attacks against Jews in Europe. According to the U.S. Treasury, Iran is increasingly using criminal networks to track down targets while trying to avoid direct involvement. The warning highlights Iran's reliance on criminal organizations. One such group, called the Foxtrot Network, is based in Sweden. This gang has been linked to violent acts, including shootings and contract killings. Recently, the U.S. sanctioned the Foxtrot Network after connecting it to an attack on the Israeli embassy in Stockholm. Its leader, Rawa Majid, has also been sanctioned for his involvement with the Iranian Ministry of Intelligence. Secretary of the Treasury Scott Bessent stated that Iran is using criminal organizations to further its goals, including attacks on U.S. nationals and Jewish targets across Europe. The Iranian government has also sought to assassinate dissidents through these networks. Majid, who was born in Iran, has built a criminal empire in Sweden despite serving time in jail for drug offenses. He left Sweden in 2018 and acquired Turkish citizenship. In recent months, investigators in Germany and France discovered that Iranian agents were hiring criminals to surveil Jewish communities in several major cities. Experts, including Dr. Matthew Levitt, have noted that Iran frequently uses various gangs to carry out its operations. These gangs often subcontract their activities out to other criminal groups. The situation in Sweden is particularly tense, as rival gangs are involved in violent turf wars over drug markets.
