Iranian singer faces legal action for performing without hijab in online concert
Iranian singer Parastoo Ahmadi is facing prosecution for performing an online concert without a hijab, violating Iran's dress code. The judiciary announced legal action against her and the production team involved in the YouTube event. Ahmadi performed in a black dress, bare-shouldered, at a traditional caravanserai in Iran. Under Iranian law, women must cover their hair in public, and solo female singing is banned in public spaces. The judiciary did not name Ahmadi but referred to a "group led by a female singer" who violated legal and religious standards. Ahmadi has previously supported protests in Iran and gained a following for her performances without a headscarf.
