Iron Maiden drummer Nicko McBrain retires after 42 years, Simon Dawson named replacement
Nicko McBrain, the drummer for Iron Maiden, has announced his retirement from touring after 42 years. His last concert was on Saturday, following a stroke he suffered last year. McBrain will remain involved with the band in other capacities. Iron Maiden has named Simon Dawson as McBrain's replacement for their upcoming 50th anniversary tour. Dawson is known for his work with bassist Steve Harris in the side project British Lion. Iron Maiden, a prominent heavy metal band, has been led by Harris, singer Bruce Dickinson, and guitarist Dave Murray. The band is famous for hits like "Run to the Hills" and "The Number of the Beast."
