Isabel Sandoval finalizes 'Moonglow' set in 1979 Philippines
Filmmaker Isabel Sandoval is near completion of her new film "Moonglow." This romantic noir is set in the Philippines during the Marcos era in 1979. The movie has been selected for the Hong Kong — Asia Film Financing Forum, which coincides with the Hong Kong FilMart. "Moonglow" tells the story of Dahlia, a police aide who steals money from her corrupt boss. She gives the money to people living in slums whose homes have been destroyed. Unbeknownst to her, her boss assigns her to investigate the theft, alongside his nephew Charlie, who is also her ex-lover. Sandoval has a budget of $1.08 million for the film. To finalize post-production, she needs an additional $100,000-$150,000. This includes work to create a vintage look appropriate for the film’s time period. Producer Alemberg Ang expressed his enthusiasm for Sandoval's vision, stating he was inspired by her previous work. He believes "Moonglow" will offer a fresh take on Asian noir influenced by classic cinema. Sandoval has directed episodes for notable series and hopes "Moonglow" will resonate with fans of both modern and classic romantic films. She is particularly proud to have collaborated with renowned sound designer Tu Duu-chuh. The production team is currently looking for festival opportunities and distribution partners as they wrap up the project.
