This marked a significant move as he was previously with Mumbai Indians, who withdrew from the bidding. Phil Salt was signed by Royal Challengers Bengaluru for ₹ 11.5 crore after a competitive bidding war, outpacing Kolkata Knight Riders. Salt's previous team, Mumbai Indians, opted out early in the bidding process. Jonny Bairstow went unsold during the auction, while Kolkata Knight Riders later secured Afghanistan's Rahmanullah Gurbaz for his base price of ₹ 2 crore.
